Bruno Fernandes has signed a new contract with Manchester United that will see him become one of the club’s top three earners.
The paperwork to extend the midfielder’s contract until 2027 is complete, and an announcement will be made soon. Talks began in July, and two weeks ago, a breakthrough was achieved.
Fernandes arrived from Sporting in January 2020 on a five-and-a-half-year deal with the option to extend for another year, so the current proposal merely adds one season to his contract but significantly improves his income in acknowledgment of his contribution.
Despite the fact that the 27-year-form old’s has fallen this season, United see him as a key part of their future, regardless of who replaces Ralf Rangnick as manager this summer. On Tuesday, Fernandes scored both goals as Portugal defeated North Macedonia to qualify for the World Cup.
United announced on Thursday that they will play in Bangkok and Melbourne in July, taking against Liverpool in Thailand and Crystal Palace and Melbourne Victory in Australia as part of a tour.
Bruno Fernandes Manchester United Contract
The Portuguese star’s weekly wage has more than doubled to £240,000.
“It’s an honor to represent this club and a dream come true,” Fernandes said after signing a contract that runs until 2026 with a 12-month option to extend.
“Everything is wonderful when you hear the supporters chant your name after you score a goal.”
“I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, and I feel compelled to repay them.”
“You feel like this is a special place, like you’re a member of this club,” he continued.
“The spirit of this squad is incredibly crucial,” Fernandes said after helping Portugal to the World Cup in Qatar this week with two goals against North Macedonia. We’re like a family to each other.
“I’m living my dream, and I’m starting to feel at home here.”
During discussions, the club’s hierarchy persuaded him of their future ambitions.
Following the firing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Fernandes, 27, was undecided about continuing at the club this season.
Their departure from the Champions League means they will have to contend with another trophyless season under temporary manager Ralf Rangnick.
United, on the other hand, has moved to hire Ajax coach Eric Ten Hag and begin a rebuilding process in order to challenge for the crown once more.
This has persuaded Fernandes to make a long-term commitment to the club.
He recently returned from international duty after securing a spot for Portugal in Qatar.
The Manchester United midfielder has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.
With his goal-scoring and goal-creation, he rapidly became a fan favorite.
In 117 games with the club, he has scored 49 goals.
In terms of revenues, Fernandes has surpassed club captain Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford.
However, he will earn less per week than Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba, and Edinson Cavani combined.
