However, Based on information gathered, Bruno Fernandes was only making an enquiry from Erik Ten Hag and his coaching team for elucidation about which side on the pitch he should play after the coach made a substitution.

This incident occurred after the Dutch manager of Manchester United introduced Anthony Elanga for Marcus Rashford in a rejig of Manchester United’s attack.

Bruno Fernandes passed through an horrible Sunday at Anfield as Manchester United were smashed 7-0 by The Reds in a match that would have left many dumbfounded.

That match is one of the most shocking results in modern day history in football with Fernandes receiving lots of criticism for his performance on the day.

Garry Neville while on commentary assignment for Sky Sports said some of the behaviors exhibited by Bruno Fernandes had been “disgraceful” after he looked to have protested many times in the game.

Anthony Elanga was brought on to replace Marcus Rashford, with Bruno Fernandes standing over the ball in the halfway line to begin the restart for Manchester United, he widely stretched out his arms and had a sneering view towards the bench.

Neville statements on Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes was standing on the halfway line with his arms raised enquiring some details from the manager but Neville said: “Why is it me not coming off?

“Honestly, I have to say some of his behaviour in the second half has been a disgrace.”

The Portuguese maestro was the captain of Manchester United on Sunday and he looked to have spent more time shouting at his teammates in a condescending manner.

Fernandes was making fouls that weren’t needed, trying to be corny against the officials and just exuding a type of bad behavior.

The former Manchester United defender, Neville, who was alongside Graeme Souness, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher in the studios of Sky Sports during the game, struck Bruno Fernandes hard with his comments.

Neville said: “I’m going to start with Bruno Fernandes, I’ve had enough of him throwing his arms around at his team-mates; I’ve had enough of him not running back; he whinges at everybody.”

Neville further emphasized his statements by saying: “He got pushed in the chest and went down holding his face. He’s got to put a captain’s performance out there and that wasn’t a captain’s performance by a Manchester United player.”

Bruno Fernandes also had enough courage to approach the media during the end of the game as he spoke about the encounter.

Fernandes said: “It’s frustrating. It’s a really bad result, we came here with a different mindset. The first half was really good, we controlled most of it, the second half was not at our level, We give too much space away. We know what a threat they are.

“It was not our level. We know we can be better. Its just about going to the next game.  The team tries to react but we lost a bit of balance and control. We gave too much space to a team that is strong on the counter. The games our coming quick.

“We know this team is really good and can do really good things.

Bruno further stated:

“We have set a really good standard for ourselves, now its just about getting back to that. We are still in the Europa League and FA Cup, we have to get back on track.”

The Portuguese midfielder who has scored fifty-seven (57) goals in one-hundred-and-sixty-six (166) appearances for Manchester United further emphasized the need to win their next game.

He said: “We are in the hunt to win the next game against Real Betis. We have to go game by game.”

Manchester United play Real Betis next at Old Trafford in a round of 16 tie of the UEFA Europa League before also welcoming The Saints to the team’s home turf on the 12th of March 2023.
