Brazil have denied claims that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has accepted a deal to take over their national team.
Reports went viral recently that Ancelotti had reached an agreement to become the Selecao head coach starting by the end of the current season.
The rumor claimed that Brazil has given Ancelotti a three years contract that will last until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In response to the contemporary speculation, the Brazil Football Federation (CBF) has come out with an official statement denying any agreement with the Italian and Real Madrid coach.
The Brazilian FA released a statement that reads, “We can deny any agreement reached with Ancelotti, we suggest leaving the assumption, we will determine and announce our new head coach at the right time”.
After Brazil’s penalty shootout loss to Croatia in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals, Tite resigned as the team’s head coach, and Brazil are now searching for a replacement. Luis Enrique, Pep Guardiola, Zinedine Zidane, and Jose Mourinho are among the names that have been bandied about as possible replacements for Tite In the Brazilian media.
Ancelotti is considered to be a top candidate due to his depth of coaching expertise and successful track record. However, the Italian’s camp has disputed an agreement with the Brazilian FA, and that denial was backed by its own statement from the federation.
Ancelotti, the 63 year old Italian man said on Friday in a press conference that “I don’t know anything about this, I don’t even know what they reported in Brazil. I’m Real Madrid’s current coach and my contract stands until June 2024.”
This doesn’t rule out the possibility of Ancelotti joining the Brazilian national team this summer, despite his stated desire to see out his Real Madrid contract, which runs in 2024.
Real Madrid have been struggling in the league as of late, and they’re now eight points behind their biggest rivals, Barcelona.
And if they keep performing poorly in the Champions League, that might mean trouble for Ancelotti and an opportunity for the Brazilian FA to make a move.
What’s next for Carlo Ancelotti?
Ancelotti led Real Madrid to their fifth FIFA Club World Cup victory after beating Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia 5 goals to 3 with Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema, and Federico Valverde getting on the score sheet in Rabat Morocco on Saturday, 11th of February 2023.
The 63 year old coach will quickly switch his attention to the UEFA Champions League game ahead of them as they will lock horns with Liverpool on the 21st of February, 2023, as they have already fallen behind Barcelona in the La Liga League title race.
