Bournemouth have signed Tyler Adams after the club reached a £23 million ($29m) agreement with Leeds United for the talented USMNT captain.

The captain of the Stars and Stripes team completed his medicals on Friday, August 18, and is now ready to finally leave Leeds and join the Cherries on a five-year deal.

The midfielder is poised to transfer to the south coast of England from Leeds United after the team was relegated from the Premier League last season.

According to The Athletic, Bournemouth have reached an agreement to acquire the 24-year-old USMNT defensive midfielder Adams for a transfer fee of £23 million.

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that the midfielder will be leaving Elland Road as Leeds have agreed to sell him to Bournemouth.

The deal became uncertain when the Whites stated that Bournemouth’s bid was invalid and they had not activated Adam’s £20 million ($25m) release clause.

Meanwhile, Tyler Adams was on the verge of signing a contract with Chelsea last week but the deal fell through at the last moment.

Chelsea’s decision to prioritize the signing of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia made them reconsider pursuing a deal for Adams, especially since he won’t be fully fit to play until next month.

The USA international captain, known for his Premier League pedigree and great leadership qualities, has attracted significant interest from several clubs.

Brighton, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth are among the clubs that have shown strong interest in him.

Adams had a non-invasive surgery for a hamstring injury in March, causing him to miss Leeds’ final matches of the season, leading to their relegation.

Mail Sport was the first to report that Bournemouth had expressed interest in acquiring Adams, even though the 24-year-old defensive midfielder is currently sidelined for several weeks.

Before undergoing hamstring surgery following his injury in March, Adams had made 26 appearances with Leeds.

Last season, Leeds finished in 19th place and was subsequently relegated to the EFL Championship.

This situation further provided Adams with an opportunity to leave, as his contract included a relegation release clause that allowed him to be bought out for $25.5 million.

It should be noted that Tyler Adams’ five-year signed contract with Bournemouth will not include any option to extend according to Romano.
