Emre Can, a teammate of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund has urged the England international to grow up. The 26-year-old German international said Sancho needs guidance.
Emre Can stated this while reacting to the fine slammed on Jadon Sancho and his teammate Manuel Akanji after pictures showing that the duo had their haircut in their separate apartments without personal protective equipment (PPE) amid the Coronavirus pandemic surfaced on the internet.
When Sancho confirmed the fine, he took to Twitter to describe the fine slammed on him for having a haircut as an “absolute joke”. He, however, deleted the post afterwards.
Before now, the 20-years-old England international has shown a sign that though he is very prolific on the field, he has some traits in him that need to be worked upon in order to have a fulfilling football career.
Recall that in his first season at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho was dropped from the senior team to the Under 23 team because he constantly arrived late to training. The same trait followed him to England Under 19. He had to be on the bench in a game against Latvia in March 2018 for coming late to training.
Recently, when the German Bundesliga resumed team training after almost three months without football, Sancho returned to training looking a bit unfit and he had to start from the bench for a couple of games. This attracted criticism from some fans of the club who described him as an undisciplined player.
Also, when the 2019-2020 season was about to commence, Sancho was in the bad books of Dortmund. He was fined and missed a couple of games because he reported to the club late from international duty with England.
Emre Can says Sancho has to be disciplined
Hence, Emre Can who plays for the German national team and currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Italian Serie A side, Juventus, requested for a ‘little guidance” for Sancho. He admitted that the 20-year-old youngster needs to be more disciplined.
“He’s a great boy, also off the pitch. It’s true that I get along very well with him,” Emre Can tell Sky Germany. “He just has to be a little bit smarter about these things. Everyone needs a hairdresser. He needs to grow up. He can’t afford to make mistakes like that in the future.
“We as a team are also responsible. We are not annoyed by him. We know that he has to be more disciplined in some things. But he knows that too.
“I don’t think he does this on purpose to create a scandal. Maybe he doesn’t realise it, maybe he trusts too many people in some things. He needs people to guide him. That’s where the environment is very important.”
