The Portuguese star still has three years left in his contract but has informed Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola that he wants to face another challenge in his career. However, City has made it clear that Barcelona will have to pay at least £86million for his signature, which may be difficult for the Spanish giants because of their current poor financial status.

Even if Barcelona comes up with the funds they will still need Pep Guardiola’s approval to let the player leave. The former Barcelona player and coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that Bernardo Silva wanted to leave Manchester City but the player is still important to his squad.

While discussing the transfer during an interview he said: ‘Today I think Bernardo Silva will continue. But as I’ve always said, since my time at Barça, I don’t want players who don’t want to be there. What I can say is that Bernardo is important to us.’

Bernardo Silva was one of the players Pep Guardiola signed when he came to Manchester City but the player joined in 2017 from Monaco. The 27-year-old has become a great addition to the squad as he’s ready to run around the pitch for 90 minutes without stopping.

Silva has made 249 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 48 goals and assisting 50 times with four Premier League titles in five seasons and other domestic trophies.

Manchester City are serious about their valuation for the player, even though he wants to leave this summer and join Barcelona. However, Barcelona would have to release some players to come up with the funds to buy the Portugal player.

Frenkie de Jong is one of the players likely to leave this summer and Manchester United are the favorites to land the Dutchman.

United’s new manager Erik ten Hag has made De Jong his top transfer target as he looks to strengthen his team ahead of next season. However, Barcelona have revealed that they have no intention of selling the midfielder and he also said that he doesn’t want to leave.

But for Barcelona to sign Bernardo Silva, Frenkie de Jong is likely to leave to generate more funds for the club. Apart from Bernardo Silva, Barcelona are also interested in Leeds United winger Raphinha and has reportedly submitted a £51m bid to be paid in installments of £17.2m.
