Manchester City could lose one of their key players Bernardo Silva in the summer, according to reports.
Silva, 29, is reportedly open to leaving the Etihad outfit this summer and has given the green light to a possible switch to Barcelona.
The Portuguese midfield sensation would be the second high-profile Manchester City midfielder to break out of the City squad to Barcelona after IIkay Gundogan.
Gundogan, who was at the heart of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City setup, turned down a new contract proposal by the club last season to accomplish his dream move to Barcelona.
Now, Bernardo Silva is reportedly ready to chart a similar lane to opening a new career chapter away from Etihad.
According to Transfer Live, Silva reportedly believes he has come full cycle with his career with Manchester City and is open to leaving the club this summer.
He is not only ready to leave but wants to push through a move to Barcelona – his dream destination before calling time on his career.
“Bernardo Silva wants to join Barcelona this summer — he is ‘crazy’ about becoming a Barça player.
“He believes his cycle at Manchester City is over and he has a release clause of €58m.
Originally, Silva was set to enter the last lap of his contract next season but signed a new one-year extension with the club till 2026.
However, it is understood the contract extension may not deter the Portuguese from a potential Etihad exit in the summer with his £58m release clause that could be triggered.
We reported earlier that Portugal compatriot and Atletico Madrid loanee to Barcelona Joao Felix had spoken expressively of Bernardo Silva’s interest in joining Barcelona.
Silva has made 27 Premier League appearances for Manchester City this season, scoring 7 goals with 4 assists.
