Benjamin Mendy reportedly revealed to a young woman that he has slept with 10,000 women after he raped the lady.
Mendy, 28, was accused of sexually assaulting the lady, who was 24 years old then, at his house in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020.
The Frenchman has since denied both charges that were leveled against him but he is still on trial at Chester Crown Court.
Recall we reported that the jury, which consisted of six men and women was told by trial Judge Stephen Everett that Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty.
However, Everett said the jurors could not reach verdicts on the two charges they are hearing – rape and attempted rape, and there will be a re-trial on those two charges.
The judge also warned them to avoid looking up the details of the previous trial or follow the media and should only reach a verdict on the evidence heard in court in the current trial.
Opening the trial, Benjamin Aina KC confirmed that: “Benjamin Mendy is a footballer who was under contract to Manchester City FC.”
“He would have parties and social gatherings at his home, The Spinney, in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire.”
“He would have both male and female guests at his social gatherings.”
“It is the prosecution case that on two occasions Mr Mendy took advantage of two of his female guests.”
“On one occasion he tried to have forced sex with a female guest, woman A.”
“On another occasion, he raped a female guest in one of his bedrooms, woman B.”
Mr Aina also confirmed that Benjamin Mendy first met woman A, a UK student, at a nightclub in Barcelona in late 2017 and she became close to one of his friends.
The lady kept in touch and a year after, she visited Mendy’s friend at his place – the house where they stayed after their night out.
The court heard that Mendy appeared uninvited in the bathroom as she was taking her shower putting on just boxer shorts and he was “aroused.”
Benjamin Mendy allegedly grabbed the woman and tried to rape her on the bed as she tried to struggle free, despite repeatedly telling him to stop.
Woman B, two years later, was out with friends at a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, near Mendy’s home, when they were invited back to the footballer’s house.
The woman claims that Benjamin Mendy took her phone from her, which had private images, before leading her to his locked bedroom, as she went on to request her phone back.
Mr Aina also confirmed that Mendy told her that “I just wanna have a look at you” before asking her to undress.
Woman B allegedly did Mendy’s bidding, but left her underwear on, and then Mendy threw her phone on the bed.
Benjamin Mendy reportedly held her from behind and eventually raped her as she went to pick up her phone, this is after telling him she doesn’t want to have sex.
Mr. Aina also informed the jury that: “At this stage Mr. Mendy took a step back and said ‘you’re too shy’.
“Mr Mendy said, ‘It’s fine. I’ve had sex with 10,000 women’,” he concluded.
The Manchester City defender however told police that on both occasions, the sexual relationships were consensual and denied any wrongdoing.
What Did Benjamin Mendy Do?
Benjamin Mendy was accused together with Louis Saha Matturie, 41, an alleged “fixer”, but was found not guilty by the jury of three counts of rape relating to two teenagers.
However, jurors also failed to reach verdicts on three counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault against Matturie by five other women.
The prosecution had accused Mendy of being a sexual “predator” who raped or sexually assaulted young women procured by Matturie at parties at his luxury home in the south of Manchester.
Benjamin Mendy however denied ever forcing any woman into sex and both said any sexual activity they had with women was consensual.
Mendy was suspended by Manchester City – which he joined from French club Monaco in 2017 – after the allegations were made.
The former Monaco defender has not played since August 15, 2021 — days before he was hit with an initial charge of four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
