Benjamin Mendy is seriously getting more issues on rape counts trial as a young lady told detectives in tears how she woke up to the Manchester City defender raping her.
The woman, who was 19 at the time, said that she had spent time in Manchester’s China White nightclub drinking champagne with Mendy, his pals, and other young women before heading back to the France international’s Cheshire home.
After spending some time in the pool, she got tired and went to a bedroom on the top floor of Mendy’s home in Mottram St. Andrew, a neighborhood close to Prestbury. Mendy is 28 years old.
She changed out of the swimsuit she packed and into her underwear before crashing in the double bed by herself.
“I woke up to find Ben on top of me, but I was on my side. It was horrific, I was on my period.”
“I remember five seconds of it and him putting a towel under me. I remember saying, ‘No. I’m on my period'” the young woman said in an interview with the Police.
The woman, who identified herself as “out of it” or “6/10” intoxicated, was questioned about the possibility that Mendy might have mistakenly believed she desired sex with him that evening.
“No, I don’t know him that well,” she retorted.
The victim said that “like a one-night thing” of sex she had with Mendy two or three months prior to the alleged rape was consensual, she was sober at the time.
Eleanor Laws QC, representing Mendy, said during cross-examination that the woman’s account of what happened—waking up to find Mendy raping her—was the “exact same” allegation made by her friend, whom the football player is also accused of raping that same evening.
The witness replied: “I have not spoken to her.”
Mendy denies raping two more young women at his house in the same 24-hour period and doing so in the early morning hours of July 24, 2021.
He also contested five other rape, one attempted rape, and one sexual assault count that occurred between October 2018 and August 2017 and included seven young women.
Louis Saha Matturie, his co-accused, is a 41-year-old Salford resident who denies eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault involving eight young women.
According to prosecutors, Mendy is a “predator” who made pursuing women for sex into a game.
It is claimed that Mendy’s pal and fixer Matturie, 41, was in charge of locating young women for sex. Both men insist that any sexual activity with women or girls was voluntary and deny any wrongdoing.
The Chester Crown Court trial is still ongoing.
