Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has put his £5 million mansion up for sale as he looks forward to avoiding bankruptcy after he was declared innocent of rape allegations.

The mansion had been put up for sale by estate agent Savills. Glimpses of Mendy Mansion were made public while he was struggling to clear his name from the rape allegation.

Drone footage was shown at Chester Crown Court on August 2022, including aerial shots above his mansion.

The Footage also showed the ground floor, including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and cinema room. The mansion also has an indoor football pitch, a gym center, an enormous snooker table, and a kitchen.

The World Cup winner is being chased by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs for an £800,000 tax debt.

It has been taken to court, and Mendy has been largely criticized by the judge, who said, “I am very unimpressed at the lack of information that has been provided both to HMRC and to the court prior to his hearing”.

“That, I really think, is the wrong step for him to take. Mendy must attend any further hearing or be legally represented.”

The Judge in charge of the case had adjourned the bankruptcy proceedings to October 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. to allow Mendy sell his big mansion.

Mendy is also claiming up to £10 million in unpaid salary while he was suspended from playing for Manchester City.

The Benjamin Mendy accountant stated that he would like to ask for a short extension because he has been told very firmly by his agent that the pay issue will be resolved at Manchester City.

The Accountant added that Benjamin Mendy is very short of money, and the cost of his legal cases was over one million pounds.

The defender had already moved on after he left Manchester City via mutual consent, having not played for the Premier League Champions since 2021.

While he was at the club, the defender won three Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups, and one FA Community Shield. Mendy currently plays for Lorient in Ligue 1.

He wept after he was cleared of the rape allegation on July 14, 2023. A Jury acquitted him of attempting to rape a 29-year-old woman as she showed up at Mendy’s house in October 2018.

In his first trial, which lasted six months, he was cleared of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to four other young women or teenagers.
