Europian champions, Bayern Munich is reportedly close to securing the signature of Sergino Dest after failing to come to an agreement on the transfer fee for him last week.
So, negotiations between the Bavarian giant and Ajax Amsterdam reconvened on Monday. ad.nl reports that the two teams are getting closer and closer to coming to terms on the transfer.
It is therefore hoped that an agreement will be reached soon after Monday’s discussions.
Dest, who has acknowledged that he would play for the European champions has been on Bayern’s radar for a few months. The young American became Bayern’s main target after Thiago’s move to Liverpool was completed.
Bayern agrees on personal terms with Sergino Dest
According to sources, personal terms were met last week, and all that is left is for the two clubs to come to an agreement on the transfer fee.
Dest is contracted to Ajax until Summer 2022 and the Dutch club is reportedly asking €20 million. Since Bayern had received €30 million for the transfer of Thiago, they are in a better spot to land Dest than other suitors like Barcelona.
Barcelona hoping to land Dest
Meanwhile, Catalunya Radio has reported that Barcelona has prioritized the signing of Dest because he is considered as Nelson Semedo’s replacement. Semedo is reportedly on the verge of joining Wolves.
It was also reported that Barça will close the transfer of Dest soon as Bayern Munich is also heavily interested in the Ajax youngster.
Dest is admired by Barcelona. Since Ronald Koeman is currently managing the club, it increases the chances for Barcelona in the race.
19 year-old Dest has already had some noteworthy performances with Ajax. He is currently one of the best top-quality full-backs in the market. This has made many clubs to court him.
