Bayer Leverkusen took their unbeaten run to 50 games in all competitions after they thrashed Bochum 5-0 on Sunday, May 12, which saw them rejoice greatly.

Xabi Alonso’s men are aiming for a treble this season, having already secured the German Bundesliga titles, the German club are just three wins away from setting another record in Europe’s top-flight League.

Following their 2-2 draw against AS Roma on Thursday, May 9, the current champions smashed Benfica’s longstanding European unbeaten record set from 1963 to 1965.

However, Bayer Leverkusen are showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon after they demonstrated another outstanding performance against Bochum on Sunday, May 12.

The Bay Arena outfit scored twice late in the first half against the last Bundesliga side to defeat them in the 2022/2023 season.

Patrik Schick bagged the opener in the 41st minute and the Nigerian red-hot striker Victor Boniface doubled their lead with a spot-kick in the 41+2 minutes of play.

The home team, Bochum were reduced to 10 men following a straight red card for Felix Passlack in the 15th minute.

Amine Adli made it 3-0 in the 76th minute and Josip Stanisic added another in the 86th minute with a low drive before delivering an assist for Alejandro Grimaldo who cemented the visitor’s victory in stoppage time.

The win made Bayer Leverkusen stretch their season-long unbeaten run to 50 games and the players took the celebration to another level.

And after the final whistle, the players took center stage on the pitch to rejoice in the historic milestone with Leverkusen’s traveling supporters.

Each player were filmed holding balloons with the number “50” decorated in gold, while they broke into an impressive dance routine much to the delight of supporters.

Leverkusen were quick to share the footage of their wild celebratory moves on their social media channels, with the caption; “celebrating the 50.”

With three games remaining for the team later in May, Leverkusen faces Atalanta in the Europa League final in Dublin before taking on second-division Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final, after they lock horns with Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
