German Bundesliga reigning champions, Bayer Leverkusen have resumed the re-enforcement of their squad for the upcoming season with the signing of French youngster Jeanuel Belocian from Rennes.

The talented center-back has committed to the Bundesliga champions until 2029 after Bayer Leverkusen paid Rennes the sum of €15 million for his services.

Renowned Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the report that the 19-year-old center-back arrived for a fee of €15 million on a five-year deal.

Romano wrote on his X account: “Bayer Leverkusen complete first signing as 2005 born defender Jeanuel Belocian joins from Rennes.

“Deal done on a five-year contract, fee around €15m for the France U21 center back to join Xabi Alonso’s side.”

Sporting director Simon Rolfes has high hopes for the 19-year-old, describing him as a “great talent” with the potential to make a big impact at Leverkusen.

Belocian himself expressed his excitement at joining the club, praising their recent success in winning the Bundesliga title and German Cup under the leadership of Xabi Alonso.

The Belgian said: “I’ve been in contact with Bayer 04 for a long time, of course. Being able to join the German double-winner now is just unbelievable for me.”

Leverkusen’s triumph last season marked a historic moment for the club, claiming their first Bundesliga title and completing the domestic double with a victory over Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final.

The club’s only defeat of the season came in the Europa League final against Serie A giant Atalanta in May.
