Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez is furious after club backtrack on transfer to Atletico Madrid.

It was reported that the Catalan club had agreed to let him leave as a free agent and he had an agreement. But it looked like they have changed their mind.

Barca recently released Arturo Vidal as free agent before being signed by Inter Milan as a clear out of old players from the club.

Suarez is Barca’s number three all-time record goalscorer

According to reports, Suarez might hold a news conference alongside his lawyers if the situation cannot be resolved to give his version of events.

There was reportedly a verbal agreement reached with Barca this week to terminate his contract. This, he said should be honoured.

Has Ronald Koeman changed his plan on Luis Suarez?

It could be recalled that the club by new coach Ronald Koeman had last month said the striker is not in his plan and he has been told to look for a new club. Suarez’s legal team had been negotiating the decision of their client’s deal with Barca.

They eventually made a breakthrough on Monday. The agreement was that Suarez would give up a percentage of the money owed to him in the final year of his contract and Barca would let him leave for free. This is so long he didn’t join certain clubs. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Athletico then reached an agreement with Suarez on Monday and hoped to finalise the transfer as soon as Alvaro Morata’s loan move to Juventus was confirmed.

But seeing that one of their best players was moving to a top club in the same league, Barca put the brakes on the termination of the Uruguay international’s contract. This is because his move to the Wanda Metropolitano will strengthen Diego Simeone’s team. So, Barca is not willing to do that, especially for free and while still paying part of his salary until next June.

It could be recaleld that David Villa hunted Barca down when he left for Atletico in 2013, helping them to win the league and knocked Barca out of the Champions League en route to the final.

Suarez will like to stay in Spain. He is therefore hopeful of joining Atletico as he looks forward to working under Diego Simeone, who has been the driving force behind Atletico’s pursuit of him.
