Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany is determined Gavi will not be leaving Camp Nou for Chelsea this summer and has allayed fears over his contract situation.

A contract issue means Barcelona could face the prospect of losing their highly-rated midfielder for nothing this summer.

However, Barcelona will register the Spain international as soon as possible, according to director of football Alemany, who declares Gavi isn’t going anywhere.

Gavi would not be moved to another team, according to Barcelona manager Xavi, despite Chelsea’s desire.

With two goals and six assists in 40 competitive appearances, Gavi has been a crucial member of Xavi’s team this season.

Even though the young player’s name is one of the first ones on the roster, his future at Camp Nou is uncertain.

Gavi was registered as a senior player after signing a contract in September of last year that ran through the summer of 2026.

However, because the team missed the deadline to register the contract, his new agreement has subsequently been canceled by a Barcelona court.

Despite his youthful age, the 18-year-old has already earned 19 caps for Spain and has established himself as a crucial member of the national team.

If Barcelona fail to register him as a first-team player before this summer, Gavi will be reverted to his academy contract and will be available on a free transfer.

The fact that Barcelona must adhere to La Liga’s salary cap regulations is proving to be a roadblock due to the club’s continuous financial problems.

Chelsea have apparently been made aware of Gavi’s predicament and they are prepared to offer him a hefty contract that would make him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

Before Sunday’s scoreless draw with Getafe, Xavi stated that Gavi, 18, would not like to play for another team when questioned about his future.

“I don’t think he (Gavi) would be happy at a different club”, the Barcelona boss told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

“He has everything here at 18 years old and is an important player for the team, I think his future is here at the club”.

The midfielder is reportedly eager to stay with the La Liga champions and is not planning a summer transfer.

This season, Gavi assisted his team in capturing the Spanish Super Cup, and he is now on the verge of winning his first league championship with Barcelona.

With nine games left, Barcelona leads Real Madrid by 11 points despite drawing their last two league games.
