With football becoming more and more popular in the United States of America, the football world is taking advantage of the possibility of generating revenue in the new market. New reports suggest La Liga giants, Barcelona, and Real Madrid have been working on having a friendly El Clasico in the USA.

The friendly match reportedly will go down this summer with the location not yet released. Though many are suspecting David Beckham’s newly built stadium in Florida will be a top choice.

It is was also reported that Los Angeles and Las Vegas have reached out to Barcelona expressing interest in hosting them. The newly built Allegiant Stadium which will be home to the NFL’s Raiders is also up for consideration to host the match.

Back in 2017, the two La Liga giants held a match for the El Clasico in Miami. The two clubs have faced off to a crowd of 66,014 which saw Barcelona win 3-2 in an epic showdown. Real Madrid is not new to tournaments being held in the United States of America. With former manager Jose Mourinho traveling frequently with the club to California. His successors including Carlo Ancelotti, Zinedine Zidane, and Julen Lopetegui have continued with this same trend.

Though no date has been officially confirmed it is expected to be on a tight schedule. This is due in part mostly to the tight window with the end of Europe are Championship and Copa America that will hold on July 12. It is likely it will hold immediately after Copa America before the start of the 2020/21 season which is likely to start in mid-August. Most of Barcelona’s friendlies are expected to take place in Europe, but they would love the opportunity to face Madrid in America.

How this will come into play is uncertain being footballers in Spain are entitled to a month off for relaxation following their international tournament. This means those participating in their national team’s tournament will have the option of resting 30 days following the Euros and Copa America. This could possibly see Messi missing in action. Last season’s preseason hit a low when the Argentine superstar miss the US leg due to injury.
