Barcelona, Roma, and Paris Saint-Germaine are interested in Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger after Frank Lampard told him to look for a new club.
The German international has been declared surplus to requirement after the arrival of Thiago Silva. Kourt Zouma is also in form. Chelsea could have the center-back pairing of Zouma and Andreas Christensen this season while Fikayo Tomori is also in the mix.
Having been declared surplus to requirement, the Blues defender has to secure a move away from the Stamford Bridge ahead of transfer deadline day on October 5.
Premier League clubs interested in Antonio Rudiger
Meanwhile, the German defender is not ruling out a Premier League move ahead of the October 5 deadline. The suitors who have emerged so far are Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and his former club Roma.
Since the budget of the summer transfer is limited due to the effect of COVID-19, PSG is currently weighing him up as a low-cost option. Roma, on the other hand, could look to him as an alternative to Chris Smalling, who could be snapped up by Inter Milan.
However, Barcelona prioritizes Manchester City youngster Eric Garcia, ahead of Rudiger.
According to reports, Rudiger would welcome offers from big Premier League clubs. This is because his family looked settled in England.
Rudiger, who started a family during the last season was surprised to be out of the reckoning at Chelsea as the season began. Lampard only dropped him from his squad for sporting reasons and not due to personal problems.
“There are lots of rumours about those players and others too, so every player would always be a case-by-case situation and one that would be a happy solution for the player, for myself and the club.
“Yes, we have a big squad we know that, but at the moment the players remain ours and we’ll see how things go as the time goes on,” Lampard said ahead of the away trip to West Brom.
Other options in front of Rudiger
With the hope of selling or loaning him out before October 5, Chelsea are desperate to see sidelined Rudiger leave for now.
Rudiger on the other hand is trying to keep his Germany spot secure for the upcoming European Championships in 2021. This can be guaranteed at least with a move to a top club. A move to Germany may not materials as both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund already have settled defences.
Premier League sides, Tottenham, Manchester City, Leicester City, and West Ham are in the market for new center-halves.
Since Lampard has decided to let go of Rudiger, he might as well block his Tomori from leaving the club on loan to either Everton or Rennes.
Tomori could start against West Brom since Christensen is suspended following his red card against Liverpool last weekend.
Silva who completed 60 minutes against Barnsley in his bid to earn fitness after playing in the Champions League final defeat to Bayern just over a month ago could also start alongside Zouma.
