Aurelien Tchouameni is not showing the qualities of Real Madrid’s standard after Lo Blancos purchased him for a whooping €80 million.
The French midfielder was brought in as a long-term replacement for Casemiro, but after impressing early on, the club felt comfortable enough to allow the Brazilian move to Manchester United.
He hasn’t displayed that same form since the World Cup, though.
Tchouameni, who continues to appear slow, has been replaced as the deepest midfielder in recent weeks by Toni Kroos and Eduardo Camavinga.
After the World Cup, he wasn’t fully fit, and a number of ailments have prevented him from continuing.
According to Diario AS, he hasn’t scored and has only contributed two assists, and his defensive statistics are worse than they were at Monaco the previous season.

It is true that Tchouameni hasn’t been in great shape in 2023, and the squad has suffered greatly as a result. Nonetheless, there are sufficient conditions in place to predict that he will eventually regain his prior form.
While it seems that the adrenaline carried him through the first stage of adaptation after signing with Real Madrid, the mental exhaustion may have caught up with him following the World Cup.
