Dean Smith’s Aston Villa are readying a £16 million bid Bournemouth striker Joshua King, after failing to land Callum Wilson from the Cherries.
After avoiding relegation to the Championship last season, Dean Smith is desperate to bolster his side and make more attacking reinforcements.
According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Smith has turned his sight on Joshua King after missing out on his former teammate Callum Wilson, who has joined Newcastle United
Villa has been chasing several attackers this summer, including Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi, Championship star Said Benrhama, and Newcastle new boy Callum Wilson but the England international opted for a move to Newcastle.
Last season, Villa struggled to find form in front of goal as a combination of Wesley, Keinan Davis, and Mbwana Samatta scoring just six Premier League goals between them.
Dean Smith is keen on boosting his attack for the forthcoming season and has made the signing of a striker a priority and Josh King’s experience and an eye for goal could be what Villa need.
Having played been in the league for half a decade, the Norwegian international is a Premier League proven player.
In 161 Premier League appearances, King has 48 goals and 14 assists. His pace and eye for goal make him a very dangerous player for any opposition.
His skills have seen him get linked to some of the biggest clubs in the league, as Manchester United were once keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.
Aston Villa would certainly face competition from other clubs, who are also seeking to boost their attacking options.
Should Joshua King complete the move to Aston Villa, he would be their second summer signing after Matty Cash joined the Clarets last week.
Aston Villa are also set to launch an offer for Arsenal shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez, as Dean Smith prepares for their league opener on the 20th of September.
