Arturo Vidal and several of his teammates at Chilean side Colo Colo are under investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a bar in Chile.
The incident reportedly occurred after the team’s victory over Deportes Iquique, in the penultimate round of matches in the Chilean Championship on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
The alleged incident is said to have happened in Vitacura, a commune in the Chilean capital city of Santiago.

The accusation was made by the sister of the victim, who informed authorities that her sister was drugged and sexually assaulted by the players at Mía Bar.
Reports indicate that the victim was scheduled to undergo a test to confirm if she was sexually abused or not.

Police Colonel Gerardo Aravena stated that Vidal was taken to a police station in Vitacura on Monday, November 4, 2024, where he underwent an “investigative identity check.”
An “investigative identity check” is a police procedure applied when there is suspicion that a person has committed, is about to commit, or has attempted to commit a crime.
Aravena shared: “This individual was transported to the 37th police station under the framework of an investigative identity check, and then he was able to continue with his activities.”
Arturo Vidal is yet to make any comments regarding the accusations, with Colonel Gerardo Aravena also making it known that police have conducted investigations at the bar.
Vidal’s teammates have also taken part in similar procedures and provided statements at the bar.
Due to the investigation being in its “preliminary stage,” the colonel held back from sharing additional details regarding the case.
Aravena, however, pointed out that the players “will likely be summoned at some point to give statements.”
He stated: “A group of athletes is indicated in the complaint, but I cannot provide more details as there are investigations currently taking place.”

A Mía Bar manager informed Chilean television station Canal 13, that the Colo Colo players were having a bash over the birthday of their teammate, Lucas Cepda.
The manager also expressed that the victim was at the bar with some of her friends and that she found it difficult to “speak and stand.”

The police released body-cam footage that showed a cop requesting that Vidal and teammate Leonardo Gil present their identification cards at a private property next to the bar.
One of the persons in the video could be heard telling the police officer that he could only undergo such an identity check on a street.
The police officer, whose body-cam recorded the happening, could be seen pointing at the players of Colo Colo with a flashlight and ordering them to be brought out.
Arturo Vidal appeared to have been incensed by the actions of the police and inquired as to why they were requesting “for identification inside a home?”
One of the individuals afterwards approached Vidal to calm him down, before giving a police officer a thumbs up, seemingly indicating that Vidal and Gil were to act as demanded.
