Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil will not be part of the squad for today’sFA Cup Final clash against Chelsea at Wembley.

The playmaker has been out of the team since fallen out of favour in amid speculation over a summer exit. The last time he was involved in action forArsenal was against West Ham. Since the restart of the Premier League in June, he is yet to make a single appearance under Mikel Arteta.

  • Chelsea has won the FA Cup on eight occassions (1970, 1997, 2000, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018).
  • Arsenal has won it on 13th occasions.

Apart from the 20-man matchday squad,10 other players are permitted to attend the final, but Ozil won’t be present at all for Saturday’s contest because he is currently in Turkey.

Although the reasons for his trip remain unclear, he was given permission to go.

What’s next for Mesut Ozil?

The 31-year-old, who currently has less than 12 months left to run on his £350,000-a-week contract has been linked with a move to Turkey, his native country,  with Fenerbahce said to be interested in his services.

However, his agent, Erkut Sogut is thinking otherwise. He had earlier in the week said that his client will not be leaving Arsenal this summer.

“I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021. He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”

This kind of stance showed that Ozil will be running down his lucrative contract before picking up his career probably at another club.

The former Germany international has had issues with former manager, Unai Emery before Mikel Arteta took over. The Spaniard had given everyone a clean slate to prove themselves and it appeared he has not done that.

Meanwhile, Arteta had also maintained that all club issues will be resolved internally. So, the future of Ozil at Arsenal is still clouded in uncertainty.
