English Premier League giants Arsenal have intensified their pursuit of Manchester City player Gabriel Jesus and the London club has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the Manchester club.

This is coming after Manchester City offered Jesus to Chelsea but the player reportedly prefers Arsenal even though the coach Mikel Arteta’s side would play Europa League football next season. Hence, Arsenal are now in pole position to sign the Brazilian.

Reports in the United Kingdom confirmed that Jesus could have joined Chelsea last week but the player wants to join his former assistant manager Mikel Arteta.

Note that Gabriel Jesus was unable to secure a regular place in City’s starting lineup last season. Sometimes, he is played out of position instead of his natural central role.

However, he has won virtually everything in club football before he left City. Given that Manchester City has officially signed Erling Haaland, it makes sense that the striker is now looking for a way out.

According to reports, the player’s representatives are in London to ‘push through’ a transfer.

It would be simpler for the parties to settle on the fee and effectuate the transfer in the end. The player and the club are both still committed to seeing the move through.

The Brazilian striker has accepted the Arsenal’s offer of a contract for €16 million a year and £264,000 per week. If the London club makes the Champions League next season, the player’s contract could increase to €17 million annually and around £280,000 per week.

Furthermore, according to Italian transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations have started and the transfer will be finalized soon.

The Gunners are trying to prevent any surprises at this point in their discussions with the player’s agent. As crucial as this move is for Jesus, it’s as crucial for the North London team to sign him as fast as possible.

While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the team in January to join Barcelona, former Arsenal No. 9 Alexandre Lacazette has returned to Lyon.

Eddie Nketiah is the only traditional striker in the Arsenal squad and the signing of Gabriel Jesus will be a good addition to the forward area. Securing the services of another striker remains one of Mikel Arteta’s priorities this summer.

Gabriel Jesus is a striker who always gives his best to his team as it was seen last season. Note that the Brazilian can also play as a central forward or right winger.

Jesus finished last season with 8 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League for Manchester City. It is crucial to understand that Mikel Arteta is trying to restructure his team in order to start winning trophies once more.
