Arsenal have officially confirmed the departure of American center-back Auston Trusty from Emirates Stadium to Sheffield United.
The 24-year-old has reportedly joined the newly promoted Premier League club on a permanent deal.
Earlier this week, reports surfaced indicating that the Gunners would be receiving a fee of approximately £5 million for the 24-year-old player.
This comes after his impressive loan spell in the Championship with Birmingham City during the 2022/23 season.
The North London club officially announced the departure of the American center-back from the Emirates Stadium today, August 3.
Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gaspar showered praises and extended his good wishes to the player for his future endeavors.
Gaspar said: “If you look at him when he joined us compared to now when he is leaving us, he has achieved so much.”
The Sheffield United hierarchy also showed great enthusiasm about the successful transfer.
Chief Paul Heckingbottom expressed his delight, stating that Trusty’s international experience and intention to succeed are key assets to the club.
Heckingbottom said: “I’m delighted we’ve managed to get this one over the line, it is one of the positions we’ve been looking to fill and it is with one our own, a permanent transfer rather than a loan”.
In January 2022, Arsenal acquired Trusty from the MLS team Colorado Rapids for a fee of less than £2 million.
Following the transfer, Trusty returned to the Rapids on loan for the rest of the season.
In the 2022/23 season, Auston joined Birmingham City and made a total of 48 appearances in various competitions for the Championship side. During this time, he scored four goals and provided two assists.
His remarkable performance in the previous campaign led to him receiving his first USA international cap.
He made his debut in a victorious match against Grenada, with a 7-1 victory in March 2023.
Additionally, Auston concluded the season on a positive note by being awarded Birmingham City’s Player of the Season.
In the coming weeks, it is anticipated that additional fringe players will depart from the Emirates Stadium, following the young defender.
The reduction is expected as Gunners boss, Mikel has expressed his intention to reduce the size of his squad before the summer transfer window concludes.

His football career
Trusty has had an impressive club football career. He started by playing for Bethlehem Steel in the USL Championship and later moved on to Major League Soccer, representing both the Philadelphia Union and the Colorado Rapids.
Subsequently, he signed with Arsenal and went on loan to Birmingham City played in the EFL Championship for the 2022-23 season.
He has represented his country at various underage levels internationally before making his senior debut in March 2023.
