Arjen Robben of the Netherlands has retired from professional football once again and this time around, it could be for good. The 37-year-old football star announced his retirement on Twitter on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
Recall that in 2019, the 37-year-old Dutch footballer announced that he has retired from professional football. However, on July 1, 2020, he decided to return to football. This time around, he decided to return to his childhood club Groningen.
He spent the 2020-2021 season at the Dutch club and he could not do much due to injury issues. Due to his inability to maintain fitness, he had to bow out of the game again.
“I have decided to end my active football career, it was a very difficult choice. I want to thank everyone for their heart-warming support”, he wrote on Twitter.
