Manchester United are looking forward to bringing Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford next summer, when Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% stake gets approved.
It was revealed that the player’s current deal runs until June 2026, and there is £22 million on his release clause.
Manchester United are ready to pay the buyout fee and would like to increase their wages to £350,000 in a bid to convince him to move to England next summer.
The English giant had already sent representatives to watch the player and also negotiate a deal with Atletico Madrid.
A move to Manchester United will give Griezmann a chance to triple his wages. The Frenchman had also talked about his desire to play in the Major Soccer League.
In the interview during the national break, Griezmann said, “Could I go? I have a family of three children. It’s not an easy decision to make. The MLS is still my priority.”
The French attacker had been in fine form for Atletico Madrid this summer, with 12 goals and one assist in 16 appearances.
The French star remains a vital player for France and will play a key role when he participates in the Euro 2024 Championships in Germany.
Griezmann has proven his worth in Europe so far. Manchester United, on the other hand, needs to strengthen its attack in the next transfer window.
In the Premier League, the Manchester United attack had failed to live up to expectations, with just one goal scored in 12 matches this season.
However, in the Champions League, Rasmus Hojlund had been the only player scoring a lot of goals for Manchester United.
