    Anthony Joran Martial is a professional footballer from France. He was born in Massy, Essonne, France, on December 5, 1995.

    He began his career with the French association football club CO Les Ulis at the age of six in 2001. Martial had a trial with Manchester City when he was 12 years old.

    Debut

    Martial made his national team debut on September 21, 2010, with the U-16 squad, where he scored nine goals in seventeen games.

Martial first joined the senior France national squad on August 26, 2015, and made his debut against Portugal in a friendly match on September 4, 2015.

    Rise to glory

    In the 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, he scored five goals to help France win their qualification group. Two of the goals came in a 5–0 win over the Faroe Islands, and the other three came in a hat-trick in Luxembourg against Northern Ireland.

    Finally, in the elite round against Switzerland and Sweden, he scored two more goals to ensure qualification. In the final event in Slovenia, he scored once more in the group stage.

    Martial played all five games for France under-19 in the 2013 European Championship, which was hosted in Lithuania, and helped his team finish second to Serbia. In the 2012 edition of the UEFA European Under-19 Championships, he was named best player.

    Martial assisted Olivier Giroud’s opening goal in a 2–1 win against Denmark at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on October 11, 2015. He was named to the Euro 2016 team as a result of his strong performances in the 2015–2016 season for Manchester United.

    Club career

    He joined the Olympique Lyonnais academy in 2009 as a member of the U-17 squad. He scored 32 goals for his club in 21 games, earning him a spot in the France national under-17 football team for the 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Slovenia.

    After that, on July 1, 2012, he joined the club’s B category, and on December 6, 2012, he made his professional senior debut in a Europa League group stage match against Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona.

    Martial Monaco

    He was transferred to AS Monaco in a three-year agreement of € 5 million on July 1, 2013.

    He made his debut for them on November 24th. In his four games there, he scored three goals. He scored his first goal for the club in a 2–0 win over Rennes on November 30th.

    Martial signed a four-year £36 million-£58 million deal with Manchester United on September 1, 2015. Not to mention the three bonus provisions in his contract, each at £7.2 million.

    He made his first appearance for the team on September 12th in a Premier League encounter against Liverpool at Old Trafford, scoring the game’s final goal to aid his team to a 3–1 victory.

    On the 21st of October, in a Champions League group stage match against CSKA Moscow, Martial gave away a penalty and then equalized to confirm a 1–1 draw. For this, he was named the Golden Boy, Europe’s greatest under-21 player.

    Martial assisted his club with a 2–1 win over Everton in the FA Cup semi-final match at Wembley Stadium on April 23, 2016.

    He was the club’s highest scorer in all competitions at the end of the season.

    Anthony Martial sealed his loan move to Sevilla on January 25, 2022, after the Spanish club agreed to pay his wages in full during his spell at the club.

    Records

    Martial’s £36 million transfer to Manchester United on September 1, 2015, with the possibility of an increase to £58 million, was the largest transfer fee paid for a teenager, surpassing the previous record of £27 million paid by the same club for Luke Shaw.
