Angel Di Maria and Adil Rami faced off again after Emiliano Martinez’s controversial celebrations after Argentina won the World Cup.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper was essential in Argentina’s victory over France to win the title in Qatar earlier this month. He made a pivotal save in extra time before turning aside Kingsley Coman’s penalty in the shootout and raucously celebrated it.

Rami, a 2018 World Cup champion for France, then referred to Martinez as “the biggest s*** in football,” and Di Maria, who scored in the championship game, was not happy with the comment.

Following a contentious championship, the 36-year-old Troyes center back took to social media to express his displeasure with Martinez’s actions, which included making a vulgar gesture with the Golden Glove trophy that was given out following the game.

During the Argentina coach’s post-match celebrations in the nation’s capital, Buenos Aires, he also carried a Kylian Mbappe doll to ridicule the PSG forward whose hat-trick was insufficient to win the match. Later, France filed a formal complaint.

On his Instagram page, Rami also referred to the 30-year-old as “the most loathed man”. While Juventus winger Di Maria, who scored in the championship game, retaliated violently.

Di Maria stated: ‘El Dibu (Martinez) is the best goalkeeper in the world. Go cry elsewhere.’

Rami then retorted via Twitter: ‘Can you teach me?’ showing four pictures of Di Maria himself crying with the captions: ‘When you lose’, ‘when you win’, ‘when you leave a club’, ‘when you see this tweet’.

Leandro Paredes and German Pezzella, Martinez’s teammates, also attacked Rami after his remarks, with Paredes saying: “Now say it without crying Rami.”

In reference to Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s words to Holland’s Wout Weghorst after Argentina narrowly defeated Holland in the quarterfinals thanks to additional scheming from the South American team, Pezzella said with a chuckle, “Get out of here.”

Martinez’s “stupid” choice to mock France after the final was also denounced by Crystal Palace manager and former French World Cup champion Patrick Vieira, who has not yet heard back from the Argentine team.

    Angel Di Maria

Argentine professional footballer Angel Fabián Di Mara (born 14 February 1988) competes for both the Argentina national team and Serie A club Juventus. He can operate as an attacking midfielder or winger.

Di Mara made his international debut for Argentina in 2007, competing for the under-20 team. That year, the team won the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which was held in Canada.

Di Mara, who represented Argentina on the Olympic team in 2008, scored the game-winning goal against Nigeria in the championship match to give Argentina their second consecutive football gold medal.

He made his senior debut for Argentina in the same year, 2008, when he was 20 years old. Since then, he has earned over 125 caps for his country and played in nine major competitions. He has participated in four FIFA World Cups, helping his nation reach the final in 2014 and win their third World Cup in 2022, the first in 36 years, by scoring the second goal in the championship game.

Additionally, Di Mara was a member of the Argentina teams that advanced to the Copa América final in each of the years 2015, 2016, and 2021. He scored the game-winning goal in that final to give Argentina its first championship in 28 years.

Argentina, the South American champions, defeated Italy 3-0 in the 2022 Finalissima thanks to two goals from Di Mara.

    What Did Emiliano Martinez do?

When Emiliano Martnez won the Golden Gloves prize on Sunday, December 18, 2022, several people were not pleased with his lack of restraint and disrespectful celebrations.

Again, the Argentine shot-stopper was essential to his team’s victory, but right after La Albiceleste won the title, he failed to act appropriately.

Even though Emiliano Martinez was a crucial member of La Albiceleste throughout the entire competition, he still has a lot to learn about good sportsmanship and how to grow as a person after a win.

The Argentine football star had a fantastic World Cup and cemented his reputation among the South Americans by playing a significant part in both of the team’s victories in penalty shootouts.

However, his post-game behavior toward opponents has drawn criticism.

During the ceremony that concluded the competition, Martinez moved up to accept the Golden Glove as the top goalkeeper.

Shortly after obtaining the trophy, Martinez decided to celebrate inappropriately by bringing the trophy up to his genitalia as he descended the platform.
