A big blow for Everton football club has one of the club’s summer signings, Andros Townsend will be sidelined for the rest of the 2021-2022 season due to a knee injury.
Everton coach, Frank Lampard had no choice but to substitute the 30-year-old English right-winger during an FA Cup quarter-final game against Crystal Palace on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Then, the nature of Townsend’s injury was not clear, and had to go through a scan. The scan result showed that the English footballer damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
According to a statement from the relegation-threatened club, Andros Townsend would have to undergo surgery to treat the knee injury.
Townsend’s absence is a big blow for coach Frank Lampard and Everton as a whole. Before Andros Townsend was injured, the club’s center-back Yerry Mina had injured his quad.
The Colombian defender is expected to continue his recovery process for the next 8 weeks which means that he might not be available until the end of the season.
Aside from the aforementioned players, Everton are lacking the services of Tom Davies (battling hamstring injury), and Allan (serving a three-match ban).
These players are out at a point Everton needed them the most. Note that Everton are currently sitting on the 17th spot on the league table with 25 points in 27 games, three points away from the relegation zone.
