Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer didn’t hold back criticizing a Chelsea player for letting the fans down against London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League clash on October 21, 2023.

Alan Shearer slammed Robert Sanchez for his mistake that led to Arsenal’s first goal, saying ”They had to rely on a mistake from Sanchez.

“I mean, what on earth is he doing there? I haven’t got a clue. Just clear it and get rid of it.”

Chelsea started on a good note, with Cole Palmer scoring from the penalty spot. Mykhailo Mudryk doubled the lead with David Raya’s mistake.

Arsenal came back into the game after a Robert Sanchez mistake led to a Declan River goal from outside the box.

Before the end of the second half, Arsenal secured the point with Leandro Trossard scoring a tap-in, with Chelsea Sanchez having no chance of getting a hand on the ball.

Chelsea

After the match, Arsenal remain unbeaten with 21 points from nine matches. They had faced the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham, and they had played with some form of brilliance.

The club are currently in second place on the Premier League table, just one point behind League leaders Manchester City.

Chelsea, on the other hand, had shown some resurgence under the new manager, Mauricio Pochettino. The team currently sit in 10th place on the Premier League table with 12 points from nine games.

Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta hails “phenomenal Chelsea” side after London Derby

Mikel Arteta had hailed Chelsea as a phenomenal team after sharing spoils with the London rivals.

“I think what went wrong was the start of the game,” said the manager. “We didn’t play with enough purpose and clarity.”

Chelsea

“We were just moving the ball without the intention of threatening them. That’s a really dangerous thing to do against teams like Chelsea.

“Then we didn’t win enough duels, and in tight areas when we had them, they escaped from that and attacked open spaces, and they are really dangerous things to do.”

Apart from Chelsea’s first match against Liverpool, the match against Arsenal was the best ever this season for the West London club.

Even though Chelsea failed to dominate the game, they had some clear-cut chances, but they weren’t able to convert.

What Next For Chelsea After a 2-2 draw against Arsenal

The West London club will welcome Brentford to Stamford Bridge on October 28, 2023, and will be hoping to continue on their resurgence after an underwhelming start to the season.

Chelsea had shown how capable they are with the club’s ability to win aerial balls.

The game against Brentford is a must-win for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino. Although there is a boost in the squad with players like Reece James returning for first team action.

Top summer recruit from RB Leipzig Christopher Nkunku has also been seen preparing extremely well in a bid to return from injury.
