AFCON 2021 FINAL: The African Cup of Nations Final which was played on Sunday February 6th 2022 In Olembe Stadium, Cameroon between last time runners-up Senegal and Pharaohs of Egypt.
Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations on penalties after defeating Egypt in the final on Sunday evening.
After 120 minutes, the game ended 0-0, with Senegal’s best chance coming from a penalty that was missed by Sadio Mane in the seventh minute.
After a suspenseful shootout, Mane was able to correct his earlier error from the spot to score the game-winning penalty and give Senegal the trophy.
Egypt’s fifth penalty was supposed to be taken by Mohamed Salah, but he never got the chance to do so.
It’s been an incredible tournament, with Liverpool’s superstars at the center of it all for the past month.

Senegal has won the African Cup of Nations for the first time after losing in the previous two finals.
Egypt’s wait for a record-tying eighth title is still going on.

This was the fifth meeting between Egypt and Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, but the first since 2006, when Egypt won 2-1 in the semi-final on their route to winning the championship.
Egypt and Senegal have split their four previous Africa Cup of Nations meetings, with Egypt winning two and Senegal winning three (Egypt in 2000 and Senegal in 1986 and 2002).
Egypt played their ninth Africa Cup of Nations final (excluding final groups), having lost their most recent one in 2017 (2-1 against Cameroon) — no team has played in the tournament finale on more occasions than the Pharaohs, including the 2021 final (Ghana level on nine).
Senegal was in their third Africa Cup of Nations final (they were runners-up in 2002 and 2019), and the Lions of Teranga are the first team to play in consecutive finals since 2010 opponents Egypt.
