The Nigeria Football Federation has been trying to convince the 24-year-old left-winger to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria since 2018 but the youngster has always dreamt of playing for the Three Lions of England.
When it was obvious that he would not be able to break into the England national team due to the array of superstars available for England’s coach, Gareth Southgate, the football star decided to switch his nationality to Nigeria.
Hence, on February 10, 2022, FIFA gave its consent to the footballer’s request to represent the country which means that Ademola Lookman is eligible to play for Nigeria in the forthcoming FIFA World Cup playoffs between Nigeria and Ghana in March.
“Delighted to announce that FIFA has approved my Nationality switch”, Lukeman tweeted. “Thank you for the warm welcome and I can’t wait to put on the Super Eagles shirt and represent the country.”
