Ademola Lookman, Leicester City winger, has been approved by FIFA to change his nationality so that he can play for Nigeria instead of England. This was confirmed on Thursday.
Lookman, who is on loan at Leicester from RB Leipzig, was a key member of England’s amazing Under 20s World Cup victory alongside Dominic Solanke, Kyle Walker-Peters, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The 24-year-old Londoner, who was born in Nigeria to Nigerian parents and grew up in Peckham, has never represented England at the senior level.
Lookman follows in the footsteps of Everton winger Alex Iwobi, who represented England as a teenager before moving on to represent Nigeria at the senior level.

Since last year, Nigeria has been trying to get Lookman to play for Super Eagles.
‘We are aware of Lookman’s ambition to play for us, and I have spoken to him as well,’ Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) chief scout Tunde Adelakun told BBC Sport Africa in November. It does, however, have a method.
‘Following this, the head coach will examine and make a judgment on whether or not to involve him.’
Nigeria will want to include Lookman as soon as possible in their bid to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar this winter, with the Super Eagles due to face Ghana in a two-legged play-off next month.
It follows a poor Africa Cup of Nations campaign in which they were eliminated in the last 16 after losing 1-0 to Tunisia despite a strong group stage record.
They’ll be hoping to qualify for the Qatar World Cup now that Lookman is ready for selection. In their last seven efforts, the Super Eagles have only missed out on the finals once.
Lookman made 11 appearances for the Young Lions at U21 level for Aidy Boothroyd, scoring one goal.
