Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford tearfully shared a cryptic post after United’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
Goals from Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo saw the Red Devils secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over the noisy neighbors to clinch their 13th FA Cup title.
Rashford put up an outstanding 74-minute shift in the game before he was subbed off for Rasmus Hojlund while United were still leading 2-0.
Three minutes before regulation, Manchester City substitute Jeremy Doku gave City a lifeline, scoring with a powerful right-footed strike from the edge of the box to halve the deficit.
However, United held their nerves against the searing pressure to secure the 2-1 lead and ran out with victory after the final whistle.
Rashford was overwhelmed with emotions after the final whistle. Footage from the stadium camera showed the embattled United forward breaking down in tears as he added yet another trophy to his collection.
It was such a poignant moment for the United Academy graduate, who has endured his most difficult campaign with United since his breakout in 2015.
After an impressive 2022-23 campaign which saw the 26-year-old score 30 goals for United, he has struggled for form in the just-concluded campaign, managing 7 goals with 2 assists in 33 Premier League appearances.
His underwhelming on-field performances were marred further by off-field controversies which saw him temporarily axed out of the United squad for missing training after a 12-hour tequila bender in Belfast, England.
Things got worse for the player as he lost his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time, missing out of the 33-man provisional squad for the 2024 Euros.
Amidst a disappointing campaign, the FA Cup triumph was significant for the player, who has been linked to a possible exit from the club this summer after 19 years.
Taking his emotional reaction to the victory further, Rashford took to his social media and posted a 10-word cryptic post which reads;
“People want to know what Manchester United means to me.”
United fans have been left at a loss trying to twig what Rashford means with the cryptic post.
Some fans interpreted it as a farewell post to the club amidst his possible imminent exit while others leave it as a sublime reaction to the victory unrelated to his future at the club.
