Antonio Conte’s side Inter Milan are set to sign Chelsea winger Victor Moses on loan after reportedly agreeing to personal terms with the player. Moses, who has struggled with injury all season, has made just six starts in the Turkish Super League with Fenerbahce and is ready to reunite with his former boss.

Moses was a core part of Conte’s Chelsea side who lifted the Premier League title and the FA Cup n the 2016/17 season, where he played as a right wing-back to make their 3-4-3 formation so dangerous. Chelsea would be open to letting Moses leave permanently for €10m, while they would also agree to let him join temporarily until the end of the season.

Conte is looking for prolific wing-backs after summer signings Valentino Lazaro and Cristiano Biraghi have struggled to make their mark in the Serie A. Lazaro had just arrived last summer amid some fanfare from Hertha Berlin, but the 23-year-old has failed to live up to expectations and is now said to be joining injury-hit Newcastle United on loan.

The manager has, however, identified the Blues winger as a perfect player for his style of play at Inter and according to Sky Sports Italia, Inter have agreed personal terms with Moses with an option to sign the 29-year-old permanently at the end of that loan spell.

And Chelsea boss Frank Lampard said on Monday afternoon that the club have given Moses approval to talk to Inter. He added that the winger is set to come back to west London in order to move elsewhere. Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League encounter with London rivals Arsenal, Lampard said that Chelsea have given approval to the Nerazzurri to begin talks over a potential deal.

Inter are in the hunt for a first Scudetto since 2009/10 but Conte has repeatedly complained about the lack of squad depth he has at his disposal. In turn, the Italian club’s hierarchy have responded with a flurry of activity during the January transfer window, despite having only completed the signing of Manchester United’s Ashley Young to date.

The Nerazzurri have been strongly linked with Christian Eriksen and Olivier Giroud this window as they aim to reinforce an already formidable attacking line.

Despite having conceded the fewest goals of any side in Serie A this season, Conte still feels the need to add depth to his back line, as Moses looks set to become the club’s second signing of the window.
