The former Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur player last competed for his country at a major competition in Euro 2020, where he passed out during his team’s opening encounter against Finland due to a cardiac arrest.

Eriksen, 30, passed out during their Euro 2020 match against Finland the previous season and received life-saving care on the field.

While there are still openings in Kasper Hjulmand’s squad, Eriksen has now recovered to establish himself as a crucial part of the Man United XI.

Eriksen signed a six-month contract with Brentford at the beginning of the year after he agreed to terminate his contract with Milan earlier in the 2021-2022 season since Serie A is an ineligible competition for those who have devices implanted in them.

Before securing a free transfer to Man United in the summer, he made his international comeback in March and scored for Denmark in a friendly loss to the Netherlands two minutes after coming on.

Hjulmand stated that he wants to wait till players’ club commitments are over before adding to his ranks and that is why he has only chosen 21 players out of a possible 26 so far.

Six Premier League players, including Rasmus Kristensen, Mikkel Damsgaard, Mathias Jensen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Joachim Andersen, have been called up and are joining Eriksen on the initial team.

Kasper Schmeichel and Oliver Christensen, two goalkeepers, together with 121-cap captain Simon Kjaer, who needs nine more games to pass Peter Schmeichel as the record-holder for most male appearances for Denmark, have been named to the squad thus far.

Yussuf Poulsen and Christian Norgaard, who were both sidelined by injuries, did not make the initial roster, and Hjulmand has until Monday to fill the remaining five spots in his team.

After announcing his team to the media, Hjulmand said, “Many things can happen. It’s impossible to solve, but it’s the appropriate course of action because many of our players still have two games left, which may easily alter the situation.”

Before the tournament starts on November 20, the final roster must be submitted to Fifa by November 13.
