In the past few weeks, there has been a hot debate on how Premier League players will contribute their own quota to the fight of the novel Covid-19. There has been a proposal that Premier Clubs should negotiate with their players to accept a pay cut which will reduce their salary by 30%.
Meanwhile, the delay in making a final decision about the pay cut suggests that the proposal was not acceptable by the Premier League players. While Liverpool skipper, Jordan Henderson has been speaking with other Premier League bosses on how to generate funds for the National Health Service to join in the fight against the dangerous coronavirus outbreak. Derby County team captain, Wayne Rooney is among those players who supported that Premier League players should find a better and more active way of getting funds donated to NHS and Charity organization. Rooney opined that instead of accepting a pay cut that will only give back to the club instead, the players should take more active steps to donate funds to those who need it most particularly at this time.
In view of this, players in the Premier League division have launched and announced a platform named ‘Players Together’ which will help generate a substantial amount of money from the pocket of players in the league and donate it directly to those who need the funds most. The newly launched ‘Players Together’ is in partnership with NHS, and it is the best means of generating funds for the health sector to combat the virus that has killed over 7,000 people in the country.
Quite a number of players in the Premier League have taken to their social media platforms to share the news.
