Inter Miami: DeAndre Yedlin is returning to Seattle seven years after leaving, albeit he won’t be wearing the Sounders’ signature rave green.

Yedlin, who was born and raised in Seattle, was the club’s first-ever homegrown player, debuting in March 2013 and went on to make 69 appearances for the club, winning the Supporters’ Shield and the US Open Cup double in 2014.

Yedlin moved to Tottenham Hotspur in August 2014, signing a loan deal with the Premier League team until January 2015.

The United States Men’s National Team defender is back in Major League Soccer with Inter Miami, and he’ll be back at Lumen Field this weekend. He’s ecstatic to be returning home and performing in front of his family after such a lengthy absence.

“Obviously, returning to Seattle will be incredible. I’ll be able to see most of my family, and my daughter will be able to visit Seattle for the first time, which will be lovely. “Just being able to return to the stadium where I grew up will be a fantastic feeling,” Yedlin added.

“I hope it’s a pleasant greeting,” he continued. I believe it will, but we’ll have to wait and see. I’m heading to my grandmother’s place to have some food, which I’m looking forward to.”

While Yedlin will have time to relax and enjoy the warmth of the Seattle crowd, his main emphasis must be on assisting Inter Miami to another crucial victory.

The 2022 season has started badly for Phil Neville’s team, with only one point from their first five games. Last week’s 3-2 win over the New England Revolution was a step in the right way for the Herons.

Inter Miami is still in last place in the Eastern Conference, and Yedlin has stated how impossible it will be to beat the Sounders, who progressed to the Concacaf Champions League final by defeating NYCFC on Wednesday night.

“It’s a team full of hard workers, and when you throw in their talent, they’re a very, very excellent squad.” That’s why they compete for trophies every year, so it’ll be a tough game, especially on the road “He went on to say.

“I think the most important thing is that we stay compact and attempt to keep them as broad as possible.” We understand how difficult it is. We need to put pressure on the ball and not allow [Nicolás] Loderio and the creative lads in the middle to pick their heads up.

“On the other hand, we have weapons moving forward, so if we can get the ball to those guys on counter-attacks and stuff like that, it will push them back a little bit and force them to be a little more honest defensively…

It’ll be a great test for me, but I’m looking forward to it.”
