Michael Owen and Peter Crouch, both former Liverpool players, have expressed their opinions on Sunday’s Premier League title decider at the Etihad Stadium versus Manchester City.

The Reds confront their adversary in a heavily hyped clash, with only a single point separating the two teams in the table. A setback for either side would be a big obstacle in their pursuit of the Premier League trophy this season.

On Tuesday night, both sides were in Champions League play, and both teams won their games. Liverpool thrashed Benfica 3-1 while Manchester City did lead Atletico Madrid 1-0 going into the second leg of their quarter-final game.

All eyes are on Sunday’s finale in Manchester, but Owen has forewarned that City would be challenging to decipher in the upcoming games of the season if they win all three points against Manchester United.

In a conversation with BT Sport, Micheal Owen was reported to have said “I think if City wins it, four points and an easier run-in could be harder to catch. So, I think Liverpool needs to get something, otherwise, it could be a difficult one and Liverpool could be playing for an FA Cup and Champions League, but it’s going to be such a good game, I cannot wait.”

Jurgen Klopp’s team still has games against Manchester United, Everton, and Tottenham to play before the season ends on May 22. Liverpool need a win against their opponents to keep their championship aspirations intact in what is perhaps the trickiest stretch of the season.

Crouch, another former Red, reckons Liverpool will win at the Etihad but concedes it’s a toss up between the two sides as they both have equal chances of winning.

“It’s huge. It doesn’t get bigger. The two best teams in our country by an absolute distance. It’s a toss-up. City have been so fantastic this season, but Liverpool is in great form. I think it’s down to who is in form on the day. If I had to call it, I think Liverpool can go there and win, but it’s tough.
