Bayern Munich left-back, David Alaba is not certain about his stay in the club when his contract expires in the summer of 2021 – to Bild can confirm. The Austrian player of Nigerian descent is no doubt one of the best left-back in the German league. His hurdle with the German big club Bayern Munich will expire in the summer of 2021 and the player seems not certain about renewing his contract with the club after eleven successful years.
Reasonably, two big giant clubs in the Spanish La Liga has become a potential destination for the 27-year-old left-back who has spent a major part of his career with Bayern Munich. It is believed that Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in the Austrian player who has been in the Bayern Munich first team for about eleven years now.
David Alaba whose buy out clause is worth about €65 million might look forward to furthering his football career in a new team where he stands a better chance of winning more Champions League cups. It would be recalled that the last time Bayern Munich lifted the Champions League trophy was back in 2013.
Of a truth, money might not be the problem of the two Spanish teams from signing this versatile player who can play in almost all positions, he can play as a winger, central defender, midfielder and left-back, obviously, any team would want to have a player like that in their squad. However, the existing competition between Real Madrid and Barcelona might hinder the transaction, except if David Alaba himself choose one of the clubs over the other.
Also, Bayern Munich might as well be skeptical about releasing Alaba because they might never find a close substitute for the player in a short while. We will keep our fingers crossed to witness all the events as they unfold during or before the summer of 2021.
