Premier League club, Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that there was a fire outbreak at the club’s home ground, Molineux stadium in the early hours of today, January 23, 2022.
According to a statement posted on the club’s official website, the fire outbreak affected a hospitality suite and several adjacent areas in the Billy Wright Stand of the stadium.

A Wolverhampton Wanderers’ press release confirmed that though the damage caused by the fire was significant, no one was hurt during the outbreak.
According to reports, it took the firefighters over three hours before they were able to put out the fire and it might take the club days to be able to ascertain the level of damage the fire has caused.
“It will take some days to fully assess the damage that has been caused, however, it is quite significant and will take some time to repair”, Wolves’ facilities, safety, and security director, Steve Sutton, said. “Any supporter packages affected for the next game will be communicated by the relevant departments over the coming days.
“The most important thing, of course, is that no one was present at the time, apart from our 24-hour security team, and no one was hurt.
“We apologize to residents in the area for the very loud alarms that went off late into the night, but hope they understand their necessity at such a critical time.”

Thank you to the excellent @WestMidsFire for their prompt response and assistance in controlling the blaze.
A BBC report confirmed that it took the effort of 20 firefighters to be able to halt the fire between 1:55 to about 6 in the morning of Sunday, January 23, 2022. As of the time of publishing this report, it has not been confirmed what caused the fire outbreak.
The last time the Molineux stadium hosted a football match was on January 15, 2022. It was a Premier League game between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton which ended 3-1 in favor of Wolves.
Recall that Wolverhampton Wanderers played an away Premier League game against Brentford on Saturday, January 22, which ended 1-2 in favor of Wolves.
Though reports claimed that it would take the club a while to be able to fix the damage the fire outbreak caused, the stadium might host the FA Cup 4th round match against Norwich City on February 5.
Wolves are currently sitting on the 8th spot with 34 points in 21 Premier League games. They have recorded 7 defeats, 4 draws and 10 wins so far this season.
