His new contract keeps him at Old Trafford until June 2026. United can also choose to extend the contract of the 19-year-old for another year.

Elanga has made five first-team appearances for United since joining the academy at the age of 12.

“The level is quite high, but this deal is another significant step forward in my career,” Elanga said in a statement released by the club.

“With world-class players and coaches to learn from every day, this is the ideal setting to take the next step.”

Elanga, a Sweden U21 international, was a substitute in Ralf Rangnick’s debut game as interim manager against Crystal Palace earlier this month before starting the Champions League group game against Young Boys at Old Trafford.

“We are happy that Anthony has signed this new deal, and everyone is keen to see him progress over the next seasons,” Manchester United Football Director John Murtough stated.

Since then, he’s made three more United appearances. He has appeared in the Premier League, EFL Cup, and Champions League this season.
