Former Manchester United player, Gary Neville has given his opinion about the impact of Odion Ighalo on the team. The former right-back believes the Nigerian player will make a better impact in Manchester United than Lukaku and Sanchez even if they are out together.

Odion Ighalo’s signing was more than a shocking surprise to millions of Manchester United’s fans worldwide, however, the surprise is fast becoming a pleasant one. The 30-year-old player has not disappointed the curiosity of many football critics who believed he will definitely deliver, his goal-scoring prowess is even pushing the team’s top striker, Anthony Martial to a run.

Interestingly, the Nigerian star has not really enjoyed a perfect playing time in Manchester United especially in the Premier League competitions, many times, he is always brought in towards the ending of the match. Despite that, his touch and flair on the field of play still send a shock wave down the groins of top defenders in EPL.

Reasonably, the former Watford striker has had three goals in seven appearances for the team, he won the heart of many people after his brace against Derby County last Thursday. This has made legendary Manchester United player, Gary Neville made his remark on the 30-year-old player. Neville opined that Ighalo who has been a fan of the Red Devils even before he became a professional footballer will have a better impact than Lukaku and Sanchez.

Quoting the words of Neville while speaking with Sky Sport, “A player with desperation and work ethic with less talent will do better at any club than a player that’s got more talent than we’ve had at Manchester United,”

“Think of Lukaku being here and Sanchez being here and players like that over the last few years who’ve not wanted to be here.

“They’ve done okay for the club, Lukaku in particular, but if they don’t want to be here they’re going to have a damaging effect in that dressing room and he [Ighalo] is going to have a brilliant effect in the dressing room,” Neville said.

Expectedly, Odion Ighalo will make his third start for Manchester United when the team visits Linzer stadium to take on LASK in the Europa League return leg on Thursday, 12 of March.
