Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has revealed that though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is no longer the club’s coach, not much has changed at the club.
Recall that Manchester United announced the sack of coach Solskjaer after he led the club to suffer a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford on November 20, 2021.
Three days later, his former assistant who is now serving as the club’s caretaker coach Michael Carrick led Manchester United to Spain to play against Villarreal in a UEFA Champions League group stage game.
To the dismay of many critics of the club, Manchester United won the Spanish club with ease and qualified for the Champions League round of 16 as the leader of their group.
After the victory on November 23, many concluded that it was Solskjaer’s principles that had been making the club struggle.
But ahead of Manchester United’s visit to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea later today, November 28 at 17:30, Marcus Rashford said the principles at the club have not changed much. He noted that the players just doubled their effort on the pitch.
“A lot of the principles have stayed the same because they’re the principles that got us so close to winning those trophies,” Rashford told Sky Sports. “Not much has changed.
“The players are finding it within ourselves to give 110 percent and we’re going to have to keep doing that. We know we’re in an uphill battle but everyone’s ready for the fight and we don’t have anyone in our team who is shying away from that. Everyone is looking forward.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not just a coach of Manchester United. He became the coach of the club as the club’s legend that played the best of his football career at the club.
Hence, despite the criticism he suffered during his time as the manager of the club, he left Old Trafford with his legendary status still intact.
Ahead of the Manchester United Premier League clash with Chelsea tonight, Marcus Rashford who has been at Old Trafford all his life noted that Solskjaer did not leave the club like other regular coaches the club had sacked before the Norwegian tactician.
“I’ve been here when managers have left and they just pack their stuff and go out the door. But it just shows how good a person he is, how much the club means to him”, Marcus Rashford said.
“Ole knows he’ll always be a legend of this club and the players here respect him 100 percent. Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way as a group. The way it started, the position he brought us to, we were close a couple of times to winning big trophies and we always seemed to just fall short.
“If those moments go our way, we could end up with two or three trophies, maybe he’d have had more time. But it’s football, things happen, and you can only move on from it. Even though it’s difficult, you have to find a way to move on.”
Later tonight, caretaker coach Michael Carrick will attempt to beat Chelsea to move Manchester United up the league table. The club is currently sitting on the 9th spot on the league table with 17 points in 12 games.
After today’s game, Ralf Rangnick might be announced the interim coach of the club which means that Carrick would not be in charge of the club when United play against Arsenal on December 2.
