Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland is not expecting anything less than $41 million per year from any club that can sign him next summer.

The 21-year-old Norwegian striker is seen as one of the hottest strikers in Europe. Since he joined Borussia Dortmund on January 1, 2020, from Red Bull Salzburg for just €20 million, he has scored 70 goals and provided 19 assists in 69 games in all competitions which made him the most sought-after striker in the world.

Fortunately for the top European clubs that want to sign him, Borussia Dortmund added a buy-out clause worth €75 million on his current contract which can be activated next summer.

Clubs like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City, and a host of others are said to be interested in his services.

Even though the releases clause is just €75 million, any club that wants to sign Erling Haaland next summer would have to pay a huge sum of money to the agents that will broker the deal.

According to an ESPN report, Erling Haaland is expecting nothing less than £500,000-a-week from any club that succeeds in signing him in 2022. As it stands, only a few top European clubs can afford to pay such an amount of wages.

Thomas Tuchel confirms that Chelsea have not ruled out the possibility of signing Erling Haaland

Last summer, Chelsea tried all they could to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund when the Premier League side was desperately in need of a striker.

Despite the effort Chelsea made, the Premier League side failed to meet up with the demands from Borussia Dortmund. Hence, the deal failed.

Chelsea had to direct their focus on Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan who they succeeded in signing for almost £100 million.

Despite having such an expensive striker on their payroll, Chelsea would not mind adding Haaland on it. If that happens, the German tactician would have three top strikers at his disposal – Timo Werner, Haaland, and Lukaku.

“We talked about Erling Haaland a couple of times, including during the transfer window. But then it seemed absolutely unrealistic and not at all feasible,” Tuchel told German media outlet Bild.

“We talk about him regularly, of course, because he’s a fantastic player and clearly the defining figure at Dortmund, who is a big rival for us in the Champions League.

“I don’t think we’ve been really serious about it yet, but let’s see what will happen in the next few weeks.”

Erling Haaland still has three years left on his contract with Borussia Dortmund. His contract with the club will officially expire on June 30, 2024. However, it is gradually looking like the Norway international would not stay at the German Bundesliga side beyond June 2022.

Haaland will miss “a few weeks” with a hip flexor injury

In the midst of the transfer saga, Erling Haaland has sustained a hip flexor injury which will keep him out of football for a couple of weeks according to Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose.

The 21-year-old Norwegian striker who missed his country’s World Cup Qualifiers against Turkey, Montenegro, and Latvia, just recovered from a muscle injury.

Less than 24 hours to Dortmund’s Bundesliga game against Arminia Bielefeld, coach Marco Rose confirmed that the striker has sustained another injury.

The coach said: “Thomas Meunier won’t be able to play, Nico Schulz has a torn hamstring and Erling Haaland won’t play and will be absent for a few weeks with a hip flexor injury.

“Haaland has of course been very happy to be back and still felt really good after the Mainz game.”
