Kelechi Iheanacho is the first player in the Premier League to score a goal every day of the week

Kelechi Iheanacho created a record for himself on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, when he scored a goal in Leicester City 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea.

Though Leicester City ended the game with no point, Kelechi Iheanacho became the rave of the moment on Wednesday, May 19 when it was discovered that his goal against Chelsea on Tuesday meant that he has scored a goal every day of the week this season.

In the history of the Premier League, no footballer has scored a goal every day of the week within a season except the 24-year-old Nigerian center-forward which makes him the first player in the league to achieve such a feat.

Iheanacho who has been exhibiting outstanding form so far this season scored on a Monday in Leicester City’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. The Nigerian international scored on a Tuesday in Leicester’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea on May 18.

On a Wednesday, Kelechi Iheanacho scored in Leicester City’s 0-2 win over Fulham. He also scored a goal on a Thursday in Leicester City’s 3-0 win over West Brom on April 22.

The Nigerian international continued with the fine form on a Friday when he scored a goal in Leicester’s 2-4 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United. He did the same on a Saturday in Leicester’s 1-2 victory over Brighton on March 6.

Iheanacho completed his routine of scoring every day of the week on a Sunday when he scored a goal against Sheffield United in the league on March 14.

His form has made him a regular player under Brendan Rodgers especially in 2021 and has been instrumental in the progress of the club so far this season.

So far this season, Kelechi Iheanacho has scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 24 Premier League games. His goals and assists helped Leicester City to remain 5th on the Premier League table with 66 points in 37 games, equal points with 4th placed Liverpool.

The center-forward who joined Leicester City on August 3, 2017, from Manchester City for a transfer fee worth €27.70, still has until June 2024 before his contract with the club will expire.

Iheanacho who is expected to be in action for Leicester City against Tottenham Hotspur on May 23, is currently worth €15 million in the transfer market according to transfermarkt.
