The manager of Arsenal football club, Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal have done so many things wrong during the soon-to-be-completed 2020-2021 season.

The season has been filled with a lot of ups and downs for Mikel Arteta and his team as they have been struggling to finish strong in the Premier League.

Despite their effort, Arsenal only managed to record 16 wins, 7 draws, and 13 defeats. Their inconsistency has managed to place them on the 9th spot on the league table which means that they may not make it into any European competition ahead of next season.

Ahead of Arsenal’s second to the last game of the season which is against Crystal Palace, Mikel Arteta who won the FA Cup for Arsenal last season stressed that the club must make a lot of changes during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

The Spanish tactician who described himself as a very creative person said he would use the pre-season to make some changes and build on the foundations that have been laid.

“I’m sure that we’ve done a lot of things wrong, 100 percent I can tell you now before going through it”, Mikel Arteta said.

“I have spent a lot of time and effort identifying critical points to change, then how those changes are going to be made and in which time frame we could do them.

“I want to spend time building, with all the foundations that we have in place now, evolve the team and the club the way we want to.

“I want a pre-season where we can work with the players and create. I’m a really creative person.

“A lot of time since I’ve come here is to make some very difficult decisions which have to undo, but I want to start doing more and more.

“The capacity we have to do it is incredible and I’m so excited about that. I see that moment of a lot of change as a big opportunity for our future.”

Roy Hodgson of Crystal Palace who will face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Wednesday said his games against Arsenal and the one against Brighton on May 23 would be his last games as the manager of Crystal Palace.

The 73-year-old tactician who has been coaching Crystal Palace since 2017, started his managerial career in 1976. He described his time at Crystal Palace as a rewarding period in his career.

He said: “After more than 45 years of coaching I have decided that the time is right for me to step away from the rigors of top-flight Premier League football, so our final two matches will be my last ones as manager of Crystal Palace.

“It’s been a particularly rewarding period of my football life and career to have been able to spend these last four seasons with Palace. I feel now that at the end of another successful season, in which we have secured our Premier League status, the moment is right for me to step down from my responsibilities of being a full-time manager.

“I have had so much support from my wife and family throughout my career and I have been contemplating this decision for some time, and now I believe the time is right to consider them and to see what the future holds for me.”

Crystal Palace are currently sitting on the 13th spot on the league table with 44 points in 36 games. So far this season, they have recorded 12 wins, 8 draws, and 16 defeats.
