The manager of FC Barcelona, Ronald Koeman is not planning to leave the Spanish giants but that is not under his control. Hence, he wants assurance from the club’s board.
The Norwegian tactician has been struggling at the club since he was appointed as the manager in 2020. He has not been able to take the club to their glorious era.
In the 2020-2021 season, Ronald Koeman failed to take Barcelona beyond the round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League. He is also struggling with the club to win the Serie A title.
Currently, Barcelona are sitting on the 3rd spot on the league table with 76 points in 36 games, two points below second-placed Real Madrid, and four points below first placed Atletico Madrid.
The best Ronald Koeman has won with Barcelona since he was appointed the manager of the club is the Copa del Rey title which the team won this season.
Despite that, the future of the tactician is not guaranteed and would have to wait until the end of the season to meet with the new president of the club, Joan Laporta.
“We have agreed to talk at the end of the season,” Koeman told a news conference on Saturday.
“It’s very important for a coach to work in a club where he has absolute confidence. If that’s the case, I can and I’d like to stay…
“We won the Copa del Rey, we cut the gap with Atletico down by 12 points to fight for the title, but then if you look at the press coverage in the last few days, it seems as if I’ve done a bad job,” Koeman added.
“It’s not fair that one day everything seemed perfect and two weeks later, everything is horrible.”
Later today, May 16, Barcelona will face Celta Vigo in a must-win league match at 17:30. Barcelona need to win the game to maintain their pressure on the table-toppers.

The coach of Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane has insisted that he has no worries over his future at the Spanish side.
Just like his counterpart at Barcelona, Zidane has been under intense pressure to deliver this season but the French tactician has not been lucky enough.
He and his team are currently sitting on the second spot on the league table with 78 points in 36 games, two points below the first placed Atletico Madrid.
Ahead of Real Madrid’s 37th league game of the season which is against Athletic Bilbao and scheduled to kick-off at 17:30 today, May 16, Zidane who is on his second spell at the club insisted that he is focused on the present, not the future.
“I don’t know what’ll happen. I’m here, we’re playing tomorrow and next week, but I don’t know what happens after that because this is Real Madrid,” he said.
“I only focus on the present, not the future or the past…
“People think I left in the past because I didn’t want the responsibility or because things got too difficult. No, never. The only thing is that I work my socks off and there comes a point when it’s time for a change,” he added.
“But not just for me, for the players and the club, for everyone. I don’t leave because it’s easier to go. There are moments when you need to be around and moments when the end arrives and you have to make a change.”
