Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has urged his club not to make excuses but to continue with the fight for a better season which is still possible since the club is very much involved in the UEFA Champions League campaign.

Liverpool have been a shadow of their former self in most parts of this season especially in the Premier League where they have found it impossible to defend the title they won last season.

The Merseyside club blew the minds of Premier League lovers away last season as they found it very easy to win the title for the first time in 30 years. It is almost impossible to believe that the club would suffer as much as they have done this season.

The fact that most of their A-list players have been out injured in most parts of the season has been used as an excuse for the terrible Premier League season the club has been having so far. Besides that, the club’s star players including Sadio Mane have failed to perform at the optimum level this season.

With these factors, Liverpool are out of all the domestic competitions. They have recorded a whopping 9 defeats and 7 draws in 29 league games which left them on the 7th spot with just 46 points, 5 points behind 4th placed Chelsea.

The coach of the club, Jurgen Klopp who earlier in the season said the target of the club was to make the top four, has been accused by critics as a coach who has been giving too many excuses over the poor run of his team.

Fortunately for the German coach, Liverpool have been a different team in the UEFA Champions League where they have made it to the quarter-final stage of the competition. They have Real Madrid to play against before they can make it to the semis.

Sadio Mane who is currently on international duty with Senegal urged Liverpool to never stop believing and stay motivated amid the club’s crisis-ridden season.

“We have to deal with the situation and not stop believing, but keep fighting, keep our motivation and go again,” Mane said.

“When you are a fighter you never try to make excuses, we are here to find solutions. Being together with my team-mates always gives me high energy.

“In football and life in general you can’t expect anything and for years and years, this complicated situation has not happened.

“We have always been successful, but now this has happened and we can see it is like how life is.

“We need to be positive and fight. This is what we try to do to change this situation and I’m sure that it will change.”

So far this season, Sadio Mane has managed to score just 7 goals and provided just 5 assists in 26 Premier League games which is a contradiction to the standard of the Senegalese football star.

The 28-year-old winger failed to score in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Congo on Friday. His country is however topping Group i of the qualification table with 13 points in 5 games.
