Dr. Erkut Sogut, the agent of Arsenal outcast, Mesut Ozil has insisted that the 32-year-old will see out his contract at Emirates Stadium despite interest from elsewhere.
Ozil hasn’t kicked a ball for the Gunners since March 2020. The former Real Madrid playmaker was also left out of Mikel Arteta‘s squad for both the Premier League and Europa League.
Although the Spaniard had suggested that Ozil could be brought back into the fold in February when modifications can be made to his original 25-man selection following the closing of the January transfer window.
But this might not happen as the issue surrounding Ozil’s exclusion looks beyond footballing decision. Arsenal has been hugely criticised for it due to their present form.
Come January 1, Ozil will be able to negotiate with foreign clubs over a possible move in the New Year, as his contract due to expire in the summer of 2021. The German, who is of Turkey origin has been strongly linked with a switch to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Dr. Sogut confirmed preliminary discussions had been held, but insisted a January switch is unlikely.
“Mesut has another six months on his contract with Arsenal. Certainly he has missed football. He is currently working hard to wear the Arsenal shirt again, and he will continue to work.
“I would like to clearly state our situation regarding Fenerbahce. Yes, we had meetings with them. We had a one-on-one conversation with the club’s top people. However, we can’t have official transfer talks before January. We received transfer offers for Mesut from all over the world. Fenerbahce’s interest is also known.
“Nothing has changed for Mesut right now. Under these circumstances, it seems that Mesut will complete the season at Arsenal,” Ozil’s representative told Fanatik.
It is high time Arteta gives Ozil a clean slate and reintegrate him into Arsenal first team as he is about to complete his contract
With Arsenal recording the worst domestic form in 26 under Arteta, it is advisable that the Spaniard reintegrate the playmaker back into his squad before things get worse.
Arsenal currently lacks a playmaker, who could create chances and releases defense splitting passes – this is Ozil’s trademark.
This has led to further calls from most Arsenal fans for Ozil to be reintegrated into the first-team squad at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal is currently 15th in the Premier League table and have only scored 11 goals in 13 games. Their 1-1 draw with Southampton on Wednesday ended a miserable run of three straight home defeats. They are still looking for their first win in six league games.
Ozil has given frequent hints on social media that he remains committed to Arsenal’s cause despite being frozen out at the club. He had in a statement vowed not to give up “no matter how dark it looks”.

This is a clear message to Arteta that Ozil deserves another chance. No matter what he did and the clash he might have with the team’s board, it is high time the 32-year-old is giving a clean slate and do what he loves to do best.
