The future of Julen Lopetegui as manager of West Ham United, depends on the outcome of their upcoming Premier League clash against Everton.

Reports indicate that the Hammers will review the position of Lopetegui if they lose at home to Everton on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

West Ham United host the Toffees at the London Stadium on Saturday with kick-off time slated for 04:00 PM.

Despite much reinforcements made in the summer, the Hammers have struggled to churn out impressive results across all competitions this term.

The London-based club have lost 6 of their 12 matches this season, winning 4 games and drawing 2.

Lopetegui’s Job As West Ham Boss Is Hanging In The Balance

Due to their results in this campaign, Julen Lopetegui has been bombarded with immense criticism, as fans want to see their team produce great results.

Lopetegui has his head on the chopping block and it appears only positive results will see him remain as manager of West Ham United for a long time to come.

The Spaniard was appointed boss of the Hammers at the end of the 2023/24 season, replacing David Moyes, as administrators of the club reportedly felt he didn’t have the tactician know-how to take the club to bigger heights.

In a bid to aid his course, West Ham United acquired players like Aaron Wan Bissaka, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Füllkrug, and Jean-Clair Todibo among others.

These additions haven’t changed the fortunes of the Irons for the better, as they currently languish in the 14th position on the Premier League table.

West Ham United also suffered a 3rd round exit from the Carabao Cup, as they were embarrassed by Liverpool (5-1) at Anfield.

Likely Replacements For Julen Lopetegui At West Ham United?

Several names have been shared in recent days as possible replacements for Lopetegui if he is dismissed, including former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who currently manages Celtic.

Reports also have pointed out that ex-Chelsea gaffer Maurizio Sarri, alongside Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi, is a likely replacement for Julen Lopetegui.

Former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has also been linked with the managerial position at West Ham United.

Given the international break comes up after club engagements this weekend, if the Hammers fall to a defeat against Everton, administrators of the club could be forced to use that window to make a managerial change.

Frank Lampard, Graham Potter, Erik ten Hag, and Roberto Mancini, amongst others, are managers unattached to any club.

West Ham United have picked up just 2 wins in their last 9 matches, losing 5 games and drawing 2.

The Hammers finished in 9th position in the 2023/24 season, but it was perceived as not good enough, with David Moyes shown the exit door.

West Ham United have some huge fixtures ahead of them in the Premier League after the international break, with Lopetegui’s side scheduled to face Newcastle United on November 25, 2024.

The London-based side also have a date with Arsenal on November 30, 2024, and they will be looking to bring their A-game to the fold in both fixtures.
